The Metallic Doitsu is a large group; they can be ((leather (no scales), mirror or striped carp)) having a row of scales
along the dorsal and/or lateral lines only. They are produced by crossbreeding Ogon with other varieties other than Showa
and Utsuri, or the metallic offspring of Doitsu parents.
The Ki Kokuryu is a newcomer as well as Kin Ki Kokuryu, the former is the metallic equivalent of the Kumonryu while
the latter is the metallic equivalent of the Beni Kumonryu. The lustre is particularly brilliant on these koi which tends
to there rise in growing popularty. Another newcomer is the Doitsu Yamatonishiki, given the name Heisei Nishiki derived from
the present Japanese era. The koi is a Metallic Doitsu Sanke and the points of appreciation are the same as the Sanke
with beautiful lustrous metallic skin.
Appreciation
of the Metallic Doitsu is a crisp edge to the pattern balanced over the body. The pattern should be interesting to look at
rich in colour with a contrast to the base colour. Skin quality should be high in shine and lustre. Scales should be neatly
aligned, random large German scales are not liked.
